Grit Chambers

One of the primary phases of wastewater treatment is the removal of sand and grit. This process involves controlling the velocity of the incoming wastewater in order to allow sand grit to settle out while keeping most of the organic materials suspended in the water. The Pulsair mixing process works better for this type of mixing because the vertical flow pattern is uniquely suited for bringing settled solids back into suspension. Pulsair mixers have no moving parts in the tank so they are much easier to maintain than submersible mixers with their typically frequent maintenance schedules and replacement cycles.

Benefits of Pulsair's wastewater mixing systems for grit chambers:

  • Energy savings - by harnessing gravity our systems use less energy
  • Programmable Operations - Programmable control options allow a facility to manage mixing functions in multiple tanks from a single point if necessary
  • No moving parts inside the tank - Eliminate in-tank labor costs commonly associated with mechanical mixers
  • No pumps or motors to maintain
  • Simple installation - no baffles are required, and in some cases, tanks can be retrofitted without taking the tank(s) out of service
  • Reduces overall operational and maintenance costs
