5-Plate Array for the 10-55 Tote-Stick

The 5-plate array was originally designed for steel totes, which are used extensively in the US. They have a 42" by 48" base. Tote volumes are usually 350 or 550 US gallons. The corresponding tote heights are 40" and 63" respectively. Steel totes have a standard drum lid opening in the center of the top that can be removed. The opening is 22-1/2" wide and the lid is removable. This makes it possible to pre-assemble the 5-plate array and lower it into the tote by inserting one radial plate at a time, then rotating the probe and inserting the next radial arm, etc. The 22-1/2" cover has a 2" bung in the center where the PULSAIR bung clamp is installed.

The 5-plate array is assembled from four lengths of 3/8" tubing using the same Swagelok fittings used on both the 5-55 Drum-Stick and 10-55 Tote-Stick probes. The probe is made from 1/2" stainless steel tube. It is possible to assemble the 5-pate array through an opening as small as 8". This is accomplished by attaching the center plate, lowering it to just inside the tote, and then assembling the remaining four radial arms. It is somewhat difficult because it requires working inside the tank with limited room to maneuver. It is also difficult to align the plates so that they are all parallel to the tank bottom.

The 10-55 Tote-Stick has a larger valve and about five times the power of the 5-55 Drum-Stick. In tests, PULSAIR has installed 5-55 probes onto 10-55 controllers. The standard 5-55 Drum-Stick probe length is a 40"(1016 mm), 3/8" tube with a 1-7/8" (47.6 mm) diameter accumulator plate welded to the end. This diameter allows the plate to fit through a standard 2" bung. PULSAIR also has 48" probes in stock.

The typical 10-55 Tote-Stick probe length is 60". However, PULSAIR will cut the probe to any length required up to 72". The standard 10-55 Tote-Stick accumulator plate diameter is 4". It is attached to the probe with a Swagelok fitting, so other plate diameter sizes can be attached. We keep 1-7/8", 4" and 6" plates in stock. The probes, fittings and accumulator plates are stainless steel.

The 5-55 Drum-Stick is effective in tank sizes up to about 100 gallons (378 liters). The 10-55 Tote-Stick works in all tank shapes and sizes up to 1000 US gallons (3785 liters). Process demands dictate which model should be specified. For example, mixing paints with heavy pigments in a 55-gallon drum will require a 10-55 Tote-Stick, while diluting sodium hypochlorite with water in a 200-gallon kettle would require a 5-55 Drum-Stick.

CPVC probes can be specified for corrosive liquids. Probes can be made from any tube material available on the market.
