PULSAIR in Hazardous Locations
The pneumatically controlled PULSAIR system is intrinsically safe because it operates without electricity. The working definition of "intrinsically safe" is electrical power is so low that it cannot produce an arc capable of igniting the atmosphere. PULSAIR Pneumatic Controllers are powered solely by compressed air or gas.
Our Remote Station Controller option, such as a PPC or PRSC, does run on electricity. In this situation, the electrical components are installed in an explosion-proof enclosure, or we keep the electrical components outside of the hazardous location. Customers with hazardous areas such as chemical plants, gasoline storage, spraying areas for paint or plastics etc. need to pay particular attention to the classification level and specific operating requirements. PULSAIR has a good deal of experience supplying equipment to plants with hazardous locations and can engineer a reliable system that is safe for use under such conditions.
