PULSAIR Programmable Controller
PPC
The PULSAIR Programmable Controller (PPC) is the top-of-the-line remote control option for PULSAIR's flat tank, horizontal tank and v-bottom tank mixing systems. It allows the operator to control all of the mixing functions for multiple tanks from a remote location, and to program those functions for automated operation. Data is entered and/or changed using an Operator Interface Terminal (OIT), or with the new Graphical Operators Terminal (GOT). The OIT has a keypad for data entry and two lines of text that prompt the operator. The GOT is designed for large multi-tank installations and allows operator input to a touchscreen monitor.
On either the OIT or GOT model of the PPC, the panel gives the following indication for each tank:
Unit On: Indicates that the EPI at the tank is turned on and in communication with the PPC.
System Mixing: Indicates that the tank system is currently mixing.
Center Plate Pulse: Illuminates while air is being pulsed to the tank's center accumulator plate.

Each PPC is engineered by PULSAIR to meet specific customer requirements. The PPC includes a power supply that converts AC power to low voltage DC power for operating the PLC. The control functions are based on programmable logic controller (PLC) technology. Each PLC is sized according to the system requirements. The PPC sends an electronic pulse signal to the EPI that can be either AC or DC voltage, depending upon distance and customer preferences. The air injection components for each tank are sized according to the mixing requirements and the characteristics of the liquids to be mixed. This determines the number and size of the accumulator plates, injection valves, pressure regulator and air line filters.
PPC-8 Internal Components In the upper left hand corner is the power supply that converts 250 VAC 50 Hz to 24 VDC. To the right is the PLC. The center contains the relays that power the 20 injection valves, mixing Petronas' eight tanks. Directly below are 20 additional relay sockets for future expansion. In the lower left hand corner is the input power terminal strip. In the center are the output relay terminals, and to the right is the 24 VDC output that interfaces with other existing PLC equipment. |
